In Eclipse, Bella must reconcile two sides
of herself - the human and the supernatural. By
the end, she must make a decision and stick with it - forever. She finds power
in making a decision. Bella's journey is a lot like our own in real
life. When we begin to understand the greater reality of being in Christ, we
crave a sense of peace between these two existences - living in the world and
living in Christ. We need a reconciliation of the heart, a place of commonality
for the soul. We as Christians can find this place in the foundation built by
God. Only He can expand our worlds enough to provide a common ground.
As
Ephesians 3:20-21 says, God can do so much more in our lives than we could ever
ask or imagine. He does it willingly without imposing any conditions on our
choice like Edward does in Eclipse.
What we bring to God – our broken selves – is transformed by His power and made
into a holy offering for Him. No wonder Paul praises God at the end of
Ephesians 3. Remember my cheesy phrase for the themes in Ephesians?
Bella and Edward must confront the truth
that the power of their love has changed their identities forever. We also have to
confront the same truth. In Ephesians 3, we see that the power of God’s love
has changed our identities forever.
