Twilight

“When life offers you a dream so far beyond any of your expectations, it’s not reasonable to grieve when it comes to an end.”17

The first book in the Twilight series begs the question, “What happens when the natural person encounters the supernatural world?” A teenage girl and a good-looking vampire meet, and these two will never be the same. The Twilight series offers a dream of love and hope that exceeds many of our worldly expectations.

From a spiritual perspective, we also see the spiritual themes of identity, power, love and truth in Twilight. The focus of this section of spiritual commentary is Ephesians 1. In Ephesians 1:3-14, we see how God created the world for the purpose of His glory. He created a natural world with supernatural power. It is the same duality that Bella faces in the Twilight series. In this process, he also created us and a pathway of redemption. In Ephesians 1:15-23, we learn how God uses this same supernatural power in the resurrection of His Son, Jesus Christ. That same power is available to us.

In this section, you can read a Summary of the first book. You can also access spiritual commentary for some of the main scenes in the book. Check out the small group questions as well. You can use them for your book club or even your own Bible study with fellow Twi-hards. Lastly, you can read Sally's review of the Twilight movie.
